Antoine Tohmeh, MD
Dr. Antoine Tohmeh is an orthopedic surgeon. He is fellowship-trained in all aspects of spine surgery, including spine trauma, failed back surgery, and adult spinal deformity.
In 1983, Dr. Tohmeh obtained his Medical Degree at the American University Hospital in Beirut, Lebanon. He stayed in Beirut for a year where he started an internship in General Surgery at the American University Hospital. One year later he moved to Baltimore, Maryland where he spent two years working in General Surgery at Saint Agnes Hospital. In 1986, Dr. Tohmeh found himself working as a research fellow in surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Two years later he started his residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Maryland Medical System and in 1991 he became Chief Resident in Orthopedic Surgery at the University. Upon graduating the following year he rapidly became a full time orthopedic surgeon at the Veterans Affairs Medical Centre in Spokane, Washington. Dr Tohmeh spent two years working in Spokane and in 1997 he returned to the University of Maryland Medical System where he became a Fellow in Spinal Surgery and an Instructor in Orthopedics.
Dr. Tohmeh has been certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery since July 1994. He is a member of many other professional organizations including Washington State Orthopedic Association, Johns Hopkins Medical and Surgical Association and North American Spine Surgery (NASS). He is also one of the founding members of the Society of Lateral Access Surgery (SOLAS)
