Nathan Wiens, PA-C

Nathan received his BA in Theater from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1996 and his MSM in Physician Assistant Studies from Mississippi College in 2013.  In between, he worked in the restaurant industry as a server, bartender, and manager, as well as a massage therapist.  He joined the Army in 1996 and served for 2 years as an Infantryman.  He joined the Army National Guard in Georgia in May 2001.  He served in the Army National Guard as an Infantryman in Georgia and Mississippi for 12 years including a combat deployment to Iraq in 2005.  He is currently a member of the Washington State Guard.

Although he has had many different professions in his life, he says they all have one thing in common: service to others.  "I realized very early in life that I was most happy and fulfilled when I was serving others.  It just took me a while to figure out the best way to serve." Nathan says.  He believes that his broad experience makes him a better Physician Assistant and he particularly enjoys working with other veterans.

Nathan has worked in both Emergency Medicine and Family Medicine, but is very excited to have the opportunity to work in Interventional Pain Management.  "My time as a massage therapist sparked my interest in musculoskeletal problems.  Having the opportunity to treat pain effectively, while reducing the patient's need for pain medications is very exciting!"  Nathan is particularly interested in the potential of Stem Cell Therapy to regenerate damaged joints.  Feel free to ask him about it!  Nathan is also interested in nutrition and obesity management.  He is a Certified Specialist in Obesity and Weight Management.

Nathan lives in Elk with his wife, two small children, 3 large dogs, 3 cats, 2 pigs, an unknown number of chickens and rabbits, and the occasional flock of wild turkeys.  He has a lifelong love of martial arts and trains regularly.  Nathan is also a pretty good cook and, when his children let him, loves to read.
